Every successful project depends on people who go the extra mile, and for the past 10 years, Shefqet Kaloshi has been doing exactly that.
Known for his strong work ethic, positive outlook and willingness to help wherever needed, he has become an integral part of the ECL team and a valued colleague to many.
To recognise the milestone, we spoke with his current Site Manager, Jetmir Vejseli, who is working on the Westoning project. “I’ve known Shefqet for six years. He’s an absolutely brilliant lad. Everybody loves him. He’s smart, hardworking and always willing to help.”
In fact, Shefqet is so well-liked that he’s earned himself a nickname.“Everyone calls him Benny, and I do too! Everyone knows Benny. He’s always smiling and brings a positive energy wherever he goes.”
When it comes to his work, Shefqet consistently goes that little bit extra.“His work is of a very high standard. He’ll literally go above and beyond what’s expected of him. If I could have more people like him on site, I would.”
His commitment and reliability have made him someone the team can always count on, especially when projects are under pressure.“He’s amazing when deadlines are tight. Whatever needed to be done, he’d make sure it got finished. He’s always willing to put in the extra effort, whether that’s additional hours or weekend work. He never lets the team down.” Shefqet’s positive attitude doesn’t just help him succeed; it has a lasting impact on those around him, too. “He’s extremely positive, and that feeds into the wider team.”
Over the years, he has also become a mentor to newer members of the workforce. “Whenever we have new starters, I like to put them with Shefqet. He shows them how we do things and what standards we expect. He’s a mentor without even realising it.”
Although naturally quiet and modest, Shefqet’s friendly personality quickly shines through. “He’s not the loudest person in the room, but he’s very warm and friendly. Once you get to know him, you realise what a genuinely good person he is.”
Away from work, family is at the centre of Shefqet’s life. Originally from North Macedonia, he travels home whenever he can to spend time with loved ones. “Family means everything to him. He works incredibly hard and looks forward to visiting home whenever he gets the chance.”
And while he’s known for his dedication on site, he’s also known for bringing plenty of laughs. Jet shared a recent example:
“I called him and asked where he was working because I had a delivery for him. He replied, ‘I’m in Westoning.’ I said, ‘I know you’re in Westoning, you’re working with me! I meant, where in Westoning are you?’ We were all laughing about it afterwards.”
When asked to describe Shefqet in just three words, Jet didn’t hesitate: Kind. Helpful. Positive.
