Halfway through the season is always a good time to take stock, and there’s plenty to be positive about. Across the club, the commitment, togetherness and enjoyment on show each week have been just as pleasing as the results.
Leading the way, the 1st XI has shown it can compete with anyone in the league, producing some excellent performances against strong opposition. Greater consistency will be the target for the run-in, but the quality is there to finish the season with real momentum.
Behind them, the 2nd XI continues to strike the perfect balance between experience and youth, with emerging players stepping up alongside seasoned campaigners. It’s a side that’s competing well while developing the next generation of senior players.
At the heart of the club, the 3rd XI continues to embody everything that’s great about grassroots cricket, welcoming new faces, giving everyone an opportunity to play and enjoying the game in the right spirit.
Perhaps the biggest highlight so far has been the Under-11s, who have deservedly secured their league title.
Ben Swingler, Director of Cricket, added, “Under-11s winning the season is a fantastic achievement and a credit to the players, coaches, parents and volunteers whose hard work has made it possible.
Thank you to everyone who gives their time to the club, especially Steve and everyone at ECL for their continued support. Here’s to an exciting second half of the season and plenty more success to celebrate.”
