INFRASTRUCTURE & GROUNDWORKS

PARK FARM WELLINGBOROUGH 600 HOME DEVELOPMENT

Development on two fields between Park Farm and the Queensway estate is underway with a mix of one to four-bedroom properties and much needed social housing for the town.

The development will comprise 600 properties, including 180 affordable homes, education, health and sports facilities and dedicated open space.

Developer contributions to the town also include money towards the expansion of All Saints Primary School and a new secondary school at Stanton Cross.

Having a longstanding relationship with David Wilson Homes, we were delighted that our tender and programme, put together by our pre-construction team; Dan Crosk (Principal Estimator), Matt Thornton (Snr Planner), James Brennan (Junior Estimator), Tracey Penwright (Bid Co-ordinator), were well received. As a result, we were subsequently appointed as Principal Contractors for the Park Farm’s infrastructure and groundworks.

Our infrastructure arm led by Senior Project Manager John Burrows and site supervisor Dan Loghin was first called in to facilitate access to the new housing estate, building a new three-arm roundabout along the site’s southern boundary.

The section 278 roundabout would be developed on an existing high-speed section A509 in Wellingborough whilst maintaining two-way traffic at all times.

We were also commissioned to deliver the schemes own SUDs design drainage system. The system will contribute to the developments future sustainability, with proposed ponds, swales and flow control devices to manage the flooding and pollution aspects of drainage and ensure water is eventually channelled into the existing watercourse.

We had to overcome some logistical problems created by the presence of a live badger sett which interrupted the construction sequence. Still, we put forward a temporary solution to work around the situation, which was well received by David Wilson Homes as it mitigated any delays to the show home opening dates.

Our Groundworks arm, project managed by David Fil, will be responsible for delivering the groundworks for 600 homes. The works started in June with a 40 strong team committed to delivering the first show homes in November, which we fulfilled to schedule.

Park Farm Wellingborough is going strong with positive feedback from our clients David Wilson/Barratt Homes.

David Fil, Senior Contracts Manager at ECL added

Our infrastructure works have been completed to Phase 1 and the S278 to a good standard by Kieran Devane and Kian McCarthy, which has left a solid platform for our groundworks teams Alfred Jata and Jamie Chapman, to serve our client’s plot works.

Both Showhomes are completed to a high standard and are due to open on 27th November. – Great achievement by all teams involved by delivering these ahead of schedule.

The site is very tidy and presents itself well from the road. The lads are completing work to an extremely high standard, and we’ve all got our fingers crossed that both sites are recognised this year in the NHBC CQR marking and win some awards.
