We’re pleased to have sponsored the playing shirts and hoodies for the Towcesterians RFC under-8s boys team for 2022-2023.
Towcesterians RFC has a thriving mini-section. Their under-8s have some fantastic, dedicated players who practice weekly and play matches competitively on a Sunday morning during the season against the opposition across Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
The U8s boys’ team is the biggest squad at Towcesterians RFC, with an impressive 50 kids in the age group. This year they have continued to play touch rugby but have expanded from playing five aside to six aside. In preparation for next season’s contact games, they have just started to learn how to tackle, reset and go.
At this age, the boys don’t score in a match. Instead, matches are focussed on skills development, teamwork and discipline of the sport.
Marc Yates, Coach for the team, added,
“The side continues to impress. We regularly have the numbers to put out 6 sides on a Sunday morning, and all 6 sides regularly win their games.”
We love their dedication and competitive spirit, even at such a young age.
